Tuna is good, but tinned mackerel is quite nice too.

Anybody catch the "how to lower an 18yr olds insurance" segement on 5th Gear? Basically they went over the usual shop around/dont modify car/limit mileage/parents named drivers/Pass Plus (UK ppl probably) but the shocking thing was, after all that even though he managed to get his quote down from £3500 to £1300, if he had been a girl, his(her) quote would have been just £600 - half price. Shocking.

Did the 5th gear item on insurance bother to look at kit cars ?
In the UK it has been THE way to get cheap car and cheap insurance
( But this year it looks liek there are less available so I think they've worked out what the smart ones ahve been doing already )

Instead of only being able to afford a Corsa l or worse as a first car because of punishing insurance you can get a 1.3 7 copy or 1.6 Quantum kit car for LESS insuarnce than the crappy Corsa./Fiesta etc etc.
Go to a local kit car club meeting and talk to the owners and see what's around. Owners clubs have arrangments with brokers for agreed value and mileage and low(er) rates
