Neighbour tests another car!! (M ROADSTER)

Some of you may remember an earlier thread where i found out my neighbour was a test driver for Sports Car Revolution. Well here's the red M Roadster as promised earlier. Can't wait to see what he gets next. This is one of the first few to hit Toronto streets and the first I've seen..

ive seen 2 so far, anyone short of a car freak wont notice the difference unless it's pointed out to them. Kinda disappointing, but that's BMW's tendency.

In my opinion that's just the way it should be, and it always had been until the current E60 M5 appeared. BMW M cars are all about understatement. You know you had a fantastic driving machine, but others don't really need to.

Apparently it comes from a tradition of German factory owners not wanting their workers to know that they have an extremely nice car in case they try and trash it. Hence the badgeless option. That and understated sports cars look better than the gaudy ones. Anyway, that's why bodykits were invented, this way you can mod (or ruin) the car to your own tastes/lack of taste.

Actually I did read somewhere that the no-badges option was made available during the 70's oil crisis, when healthy buyers of big Mercs didn't want to advertise the fact they had just bought a massive car with an equally massive V8. They then deleted the badges and as the 450 SEL looked the same as the 280 SE there was no problem. But then it started to be the other way round, the 280 SE owners deleted their badges and pretended they had a 450 SEL...

I would ask him to let me take pics. How stuck up can that neighbor be?
    Real cars are not FWD.
