Depends mostly on your speed. Rolling down your windows on the highway vs. using AC, it's a wash, so I opt to run the a/c. Otherwise when I'm in-town and not going anywhere where I have to look presentable, I run the a/c. Saves me about 3mpg.

Well, the Audi has swallowed over £145 worth of fuel since Saturday, it's currently managing about 325-355mi on a 70litre tank, Dad's been doing alot of driving back and forth to Southampton, Portsmouth, Brighton and his Business Partners house for site meetings etc.

Two runs with the Scenic 1.6e. The first one 408,7km with 41,83l of petrol (10,23l/100km) and the second one 393,8km with 38,38l of petrol (10,26l/100km).

I'm suprised of the high fuel consumption, considering the Mini does about the same and it's almost twice as powerful.

Better technology in the newer engine in the Mini?
It's like Audi's 3.2FSI v6 in the A6 is more or less the same fuel economy wise as the A6's 2.4v6, the 2.8FSI v6 gets something like 5miles per gallon better than the 2.4 which totally threw me because the 2.4 isn't THAT old yet still in the time between when IT came out and the new FSI v6's came out the technology has improved that much.

Well I think I'm going to get new O2 sensors and a tune, should be worth 4-5mpg and 10-15hp.

I guess that, better aerodinamics and lower weight. Also to make decent progress in the Renault you have to go flat out very often, whereas in the Mini it isn't necessary to keep the same pace. I guess that means something as well.

Yeah, I suppose you've also got the s'charger and the extra torque to pull you along at lower revs?

Yeah, that's brilliant, I missed it while driving the Renault. Once you get into three figures (in km/h) the right-hand pedal is just a switch on the noise...

Just to rub it in your face since we're the same age, I've done 220km/h.

i used a half tank of fuel today - it's a 55L tank, and it was used on a 1 hour highway trip (each way) and about 30 laps at the track

That's pretty darn good, considering I guess, at the track it was near enough full throttle most of the time. Is it a 3.2?
