Ultimatecarpage.com update (12-23-07)
Dear Ultimatecarpage.com visitor,
Last week Bonhams celebrated the tenth anniversary of the annual auction at the Palace Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland. For many years the sale was exclusively for Ferraris and Ferrari related automobilia. Since last year the policy has been been changed and Maseratis were also offered. This year the five star hotel's underground parking lot was packed with not only Ferraris and Maseratis, but also fine examples of other Italian marques. What has remained is the broad scope of the offered lots, appealing to a wide variety of budgets. Another trademark of the Gstaad Auction is that all the cars are in excellent condition and / or highly original.
Despite not having a real headliner, the 2007 edition of the Gstaad was very successful. The absolute highlight was a superbly restored Ferrari 275 GTB/2 6C, which changed hands for a staggering CHF 1,120,000. Also very interesting was a completely original Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Stabilimenti Farina Cabriolet. It sold for CHF 360,000; well over the top estimate. The automobilia auction grabbed headlines with several brochures selling for twenty times the estimate.
For the sixth consecutive time our photographers traveled to the snow covered Swiss jet-set village. They sampled both the auction lots and the surrounding ski slopes. Fully intact they returned with a full report and a 90-shot slideshow. The report includes a list of all car lots and the prices they sold for.
All of the Ultimatecarpage.com contributors would like to wish you happy holidays and much prosperity in the new year.

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
