    It's based on a real RS2000.
The engine is from a Escort Cosworth, but without the turbo and without the injection. Double twin carbs rule! It has lightweight pistons and runs with a dry oil carter. The oil is filtered in the back. Guess you know what I mean as you're used to rally cars.
The gearbox is a dog leg ZF with an Atlas axle. Can't remenber the ratio of the diff.

EDIT: It's not for sale but he also owns a Kadett GTE wich is for sale.

Not sure I understood your question... This car is for sale because my mate does this for a living. We works mainly with rally cars, present and classic. Sometimes he does this kind of race replicas for special costumers. And so he does for himself to take his cars to shows and rallyes as a kind of promotion of his services. He's keeping the escort because, has you know, it's more powerful and easy to drive. But the Kadett is even more perfect and if it finally manages to sell it, it will be a very reluctant deal.

ah, sorry, shouldn't use English 'slang' on international forum
"going for" - what price ?
interesting you say kadette "more perfect". he couldnt' get the handlign sorted out and the pwoer jsut wasn't good enough. So he's rebuilding a Sunbeam Lotus forest stages spec rally car now.
We don't have much experince in UK with the kadette, mainly Escorts and the Lotus from those days

I meant that it is in more perfect condition. However it as neither the power or the handling of the Escort. But I guess it's a chassis related issue. Nothing can beat the chassis of the escort in what comes to balance.

The Sunbeam Lotus is a far more interesting cars. They make up to 260bhp! With that short chassis I can't imagine how it is to drive such a thing...

    Ha, I understand.
Was just wondering if we weren't setting it up properly.
Agreed, hard to beat the Escort ( unless it's a 1380 Mini )

I'll let you know in the spring.
The rebuild will be finished then.
He is seriously considering putting a tuned Nissan engine and transmission in taking it out to 300bvhp. he reckons the chassis can take it.
I'm not sure and trying to convince him to stay with the Lotus power

    yeah no rush Mustang.

Youv'e 50+ years ahead of you to compete in rallying

Just look at it this way, if you do too much too soon then you'll get bored and not have any challenge when you're 65 !!!

I'm hoping you do better than that, try harder and do it "so good" please - or no UCP sponsorship.

Come on Wouter, how about a free 6 month super membership for any race car carrying the UCP logo.
Another market for AAA-Mods clothing -- some vinyl stickers.
I can get them made any size any colour real low cost and ship em anywhere

That would be a waste. The original Lotus 2.2 sounds so good... And the car has such a value that it's a shame not to keep it standard.

well he's looking at getting another 80 brake
    He's a power nut, I'm a 'classic'
I've already told him if he wants a Nissan engine then just rally a bloody Nissan erm, maybe not, likely to crumble by the end of the first forest stage
