that was the racing version of the red one, which could do 20 kph, compared to the 16 of the standard one, later efforts to put on a turbo failed

Well it was front-engine rear wheel drive.

Obviously trying to compete with Lamborghini and failed.

They should stick to 2 seater, rear engine - sounds familiar

That's a neat tractor it reminded me of the cute Minneapolis Moline UDLX ComfortTractor (1938, 40mph, 3 pics below). While searching for pics of the UDLX to share, I came across this interesting page which features some amazing tractors including a turbine-powered 1957 Ford Typhoon and the incredible fuel-cell (!) Allis Chalmers of 1959

    http://www.antiquetractorstore.com/a.../artint207.htm

For mere trivia, my final tractor pic (in B&W) is 'Tail End Charlie', the ugly-but-effective Chamberlain 9G tractor entered as a competitor in the super-tough 1955 'Redex Round Australia Trial' rally-endurance event. (It was also in the 1956 trial) In the 1957 Mobilgas Trial it covered 11,140 miles in 19 days averaging 18.5mpg and broke all tractor distance records. A condition of entry was that Tail End Charlie travel at the rear of the trial as a 'sweep vehicle' and assist or tow any vehicles experiencing damage or mechanical problems. This time was achieved despite a roll over and repairs that took 11 hours to complete

After this brief tractor-interlude, now back to Lambos & Porsches ..
