DE LA ROSA FLIES ON TURKISH TRACK DEBUT

Pedro de la Rosa set the pace in Istanbul as McLaren dominated the opening practice session of Turkey's foray into grand prix racing.
The Spaniard's time of 1m27.882s was half a second quicker than his championship challenging team-mate Kimi Raikkonen managed on the dusty but challenging new circuit.
De la Rosa achieved this despite bringing out the red flags with ten minutes still to go when he stopped on the exit of a corner with mechanical problems.
Packed full of elevation changes, the track has several fast bends including an uphill blind Turn 3 and a three-apex left-hand Turn 8, and seems likely to offer a more varied racing experience than other recent Hermann Tilke-designed facilities.
Both Ferrari drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello proved this with spins, while Nick Heidfeld, Mark Webber, Giancarlo Fisichella all ran off the track at some point.
Williams ace Webber was an impressive third quickest after banging in a late flier ahead of Toyota test driver Ricardo Zonta, BAR-Honda star Jenson Button and McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya.
Fernando Alonso ran an uncharacteristically high number of practice laps for a first session, much like everyone except Webber – further emphasising the Australian's effort –but the world championship leader could only manage seventh fastest time however and was nearly a second off the pace of Raikkonen.
Schumacher was eighth fastest.
The world champion was one of the first drivers to go out and explore the new track but a massive spin at the top of Turn 3 hindered his progress.
Takuma Sato backed up BAR team-mate Button with ninth while Fisichella rounded out the top ten.
New Ferrari signing Felipe Massa was 11th in the Sauber ahead of Toyota's race drivers Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli.
Williams' other driver Nick Heidfeld could not match Webber's pace and was 14th quickest, followed by Jacques Villeneuve's Sauber and Christian Klien in the first of the Red Bulls.
Rubens Barrichello, like his Ferrari team-mate, spun at the top of the hill en route to a lowly 17th position. His old friend David Coulthard was just behind him in 18th.
Red Bull tester Vitantonio Liuzzi was 19th, while Tiago Monteiro led the Jordan/Minardi battle in 20th.
Jordan test driver Nicolas Kiesa backed up his Portuguese team-mate in 21st ahead of Narain Karthikeyan.
Minardi regulars Christijan Albers and Robert Doornbos (who suffered a broken gearbox) followed with team debutant Enrique Toccacelo bringing up the rear.
