1967 427 Ford Fairlane, mainly because I had one, purchased in 1969. That car was an absolute animal, nothing locally could even come close.

I'd have to go with the car sometimes called a progenitor to the muscle car: a '49 Olds with a 303ci V8.
An it harm none, do as ye will

Approximately 79% of statistics are made up.

My favorite muscle car would have to be the 69 Mustang Boss 302 or Mach 1, though I have a soft spot for the Dart Swinger 340. 4 speed manuals only, please.

Oh, and the idea that a pony car cannot be a muscle car is ridiculous. The genres do overlap significantly. The suggestion that a Boss 429 Mustang, a ZL-1 Camaro or a Hemi Cuda is not a muscle car just because it is also a pony car is simply inane. It is also a recent development (within the last 15 years or so) among certain 'self proclaimed' expert car enthusiasts. In the 60s, 70s, and 80s there was no such thing as separating the genres completely, and a high performance pony car was equally considered a muscle car as any similarly equipped mid-size sedan. The two genres are not mutually exclusive. If, in 1970 you declared that a Cobra Jet Mustang was not a muscle car, you would be laughed out of the club. And I would suggest that if it was true then, then it is true now. Otherwise we are just re-writing history.

    Cheers
