    2013 Canadian Grand Prix (June 7 - 9)

In little over two hours, the first practice of the Canadian Grand Prix will start. Rain is expected for the first two days while Sunday looks like it will be the weekend's best day. The paddock is still embroiled over the controversial tyre test scandal(s), while new tyres are scheduled to be tested today. Unless it rains, that is. Let's see if Rosberg can keep his pole position streak going.

An eventful qualifying session ended with Vettel on pole and a stunning performance from Valtteri Bottas to clinch third in the Williams. Felipe Massa had his third big shunt in two week, which left him out of Q3. Also neither of the two McLaren managed to make it into the top 10:

It looks like it will actually rain today, which should make for a very interesting race.

Tragically, a marshal has been killed during an incident removing Gutierrez's car from turn 2. Absolute disaster.

As for the race, it barely kept my attention unfortunately.

It didn't, but it was OK.
Shame about the death of the marshall. Brundle was stating on Sky Sports that it didn't make sense to take the car out when there were a mere 3 laps to go. The risk was bigger that letting the car stay there, he said. Unfortunately he proved himself right...

Yes, what a freak accident. Really sad.

As dry races go, this was quite a good one in my opinion. The DRS actually worked in that it did not allow the chasing car to run right past the car ahead but just put them in a position to try something brave. It is just a shame that all the fights were from 2nd position down. In addition to Vettel of course, Alonso and DiResta were the men of the race. Especially DiResta's incredibly long run on the option tyre was impressive.

I thought it was interesting too. Kept me on the couch in front of the telly for the whole race which is strange for a F1 race lately.

I also saw a lot of cars powersliding their way out of the corners. Was this normal?

By the way, what happened with the marshal?

Apparently, in the rush of leaving the track side he stumbled and the tractor driver didn't see him and ran him over.

Shame about the Marshall...really a freak accident...

The powersliding is probably a product of the relatively low downforce and the green track since it was raining most of the weekend...

I thought it was pretty boring, I wasn't paying too much attention watching the recorded race after being outside for most of the day autocrossing...

Once you've been out competing, it's rather hard to get excited with a race on TV. Unfair expectations!
