This weekend, British auctioneer Bonhams will stage the 18th annual official Aston Martin Sale at the Newport Pagnell factory. Headlining the one-make auction is a fabulous example of the DB6 Volante, which is estimated to sell for GBP 700,000 - 900,000. The Volante was the drophead version of the DB6, which was the third and final evolution of the DB4 introduced almost a decade earlier. Aston Martin built 140 examples of the Volante before it was replaced by the DB6 Mk 2 in 1969. The particular DB6 Volante consigned was originally sold to London lawyer and has more recently benefited of a comprehensive restoration. Also consigned is this DB6 Mk 2 Volante, which is one of just 38 examples built. It was bought new by a banker based in Hong Kong and has been consigned by only its third owner.
Of an altogether more modern vintage is the V12 Vantage GT12 Special Edition that will conclude the sale. Inspired by the GT3 racing car, it is one of the most extreme road legal cars built by Aston Martin. The consigned car is the 74th of the limited number of 100 built. Finished in a unique green colour, it was never delivered to its original buyer and is offered in an as-new condition.
