2005-03-29: Ten new cars; Shelby GT500 new and old, Charger SRT-8, new EVO and more ...
For days after the cars were unveiled at the 2005 New York Auto Show the roar of the many V8s could still be heard. On the Ford stand the true star of the show was presented; the 450 bhp Shelby Cobra GT500. To put the new GT500 in perspective, we also take a closer look at the original, the Shelby Mustang GT500. Rumbling V8s were also omnipresent on the Chrysler stand, highlighted by the 425 bhp Dodge Charger SRT-8. General Motors completed the Cadillac V-series with the XLR-V. The Japanese manufacturers also launched some high performance novelties, including the Nissan Sport Concept and the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX.
One of Italy's most highly acclaimed engineers is Vittorio Jano, who is mostly associated with Alfa Romeo. In this week's update the first Alfa Romeo road car he designed is featured; the 6C 1500 Sports Two Seater. Also from Italy comes one of Ferrari's first four cylinder engined sports racer, the 500 Mondial.

It is divided in four sections; Future events, which now includes links to past editions; Recent events, with the eight most recently covered events; Annual events, with coverages of events visited annually; Special events, listing events only covered or organized once. Furthermore it is now possible to switch between different runnings of the same event.
2005-03-21: DeLorean, Allard J2X, Fioravanti Vola and more ...
Yesterday one of the leading automotive executives passed away. After 'inventing' the muscle car by jamming a big V8 in a saloon body, John DeLorean became world famous with a sportscar bearing his name. Today we take a closer look at this DeLorean DMC 12, with a history combining controversy and fame. Not as well known, but also very gifted was Sydney Allard, whose V8 engined cars dominated North American motor racing in the early 1950s. One of the most successful is the Allard J2X.
At the recent Geneva Motorshow Fioravanti, displayed the four year old Alfa Romeo Vola Concept, which first used the rotating roof design found on the recent Ferrari 575 SuperAmerica. Across the isle Morgan had on display the stunning Aeromax one-off, which combined the styling of the current Aero 8 with the great French designs of the 1930s. Mercedes Benz continued the diesel theme with the Vision SL 400 CDI, the first SL to be equipped with an oil burner.
2005-03-14: New Stratos, Ferrari Hot Rod, Tri-Turbo SLK and more ...
One of the many highlights of this month's Geneva Motorshow was the Fenomenon Stratos; a modern interpretation of the Lancia icon. On the Mercedes Benz stand diesel engines took centre stage, highlighted by the SLK 320 CDI Tri-Turbo, which is equipped with a triple turbocharged 286 bhp V6 engine. Alfa Romeo replaced the much acclaimed 156 with the all new Giugiaro designed 159. On Giugiaro's own stand the Fiat Croma's launch was livened up with the V8 engined Fiat Croma 8V.
Just like the Lancia Stratos, the Ferrari 250 GT SWB perfectly combined form and function. Today we take a look at the final and most powerful version of the SWB; the 250 GT SWB Comp/61. Because of its hugely powerful engine, it is commonly referred to as SEFAC Hot Rod.
2005-03-07: Ten Geneva novelties; AM V8 Vantage, new MX-5 and more ...
Now that the dust has settled a bit after the very busy Geneva Motorshow opening week, it is time to take a closer look at ten of the newly unveiled vehicles. Although the Geneva show is usually dominated by the introductions of many prototypes and design studies, this year's event saw a remarkable amount of major production car releases. Aston Martin met the high expectations set after the 2003 Detroit Motorshow with the introduction of the V8 Vantage, ready to take on the Porsche 911. Mazda revived an icon with the introduction of an all-new MX-5. At the Citroen stand all eyes were on the new C6, which looks set relive the glory days of the marque. The small Dutch manufacturer Spyker announced yet another new car in the shape of the 500 bhp C12 La Turbie.
The three major Italian design houses were also present with three very different design studies. Pininfarina celebrated their 75th anniversary with the introduction of the 700 bhp Maserati Birdcage 75th. On the Italdesign and Bertone stands two big passenger cars were unveiled, the Mitsubishi Nessie SUV and Cadillac Villa MPV respectively.
