2024-06-20: 2024 Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or report and 160-shot gallery ...
2024 Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or report and 160-shot gallery Earlier this month, we were at the Circuit Dijon Prenois for the annual Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or. One of the oldest historic race meetings still around, it was the third round of the 2024 Peter Auto championship. Seven of the nine familiar grids were represented, including the two Classic Endurance Racing groups and the Sixties' Endurance. Run under changeable conditions, it proved to be an action packed event with some spectacular racing. Further highlights included a parade of dozens of Facel Vegas.
We were in the French Burgundy area throughout the weekend to capture this 160-shot gallery and race-by-race recap.

2024-06-17: Lamborghini, Ferrari and BMW consigned to Gooding Pebble Beach auctions ...
Lamborghini Miura P400 S It is that time of year again that the first consignments for the major auctions during the Monterey Car Week are being announced. Today, we take a look at three of those early consignments due to cross the block at the Gooding Pebble Beach Auctions. One of the most fascinating is this very original Lamborghini Miura P400 S. Not only is it finished in a striking metallic brown colour, it also comes from a 35-year spell on display in the living room of the current custodian. The unrestored Miura S should sell for $2 - $2.5 million.
Offered in public sale for the first time in 50 years is this BMW 507 Roadster. It has benefited from a recent BMW Classic restoration and also holds the distinction as being one of very few examples with a period racing history. The 507 Roadster should find a new owner for $2.2 - $2.5 million.
Ferraris always take centre stage in Monterey and among them this year is this 330 GTS. One of just 99 examples built, it has been lovingly restored during the 1990s to an understated black with green interior. Now offered by the family of the original owner, 10703 has a pre-sale estimate of $2 - $2.5 million.

2024-06-14: Latest news from Le Mans and new Hispano Suiza ...
MissionH24 H24EVO It has been a busy week at Le Mans, both on and off the track. The most consequential of the new cars revealed is the Mission24 H24EVO. Underlining Le Mans' commitment to hydrogen-fuelled competition cars, this is the third incarnation of the hydrogen fuel-cell equipped prototype racer. It is built around a carbon-fibre composite tub and equipped with electric drivetrain that can produce up to 872 bhp. Development of the H24EVO is ongoing and the ultimate aim is to compete in actual races.
Using the recently launched Renault 5 as the basis, Alpine have created the A290. In the featured GTS trim, it packs a 220 bhp punch. This combined with a bespoke exterior design that will set it further apart from its Renault sibling.
Another new competition car revealed at Le Mans was the Ligier JS P325, which is the third evolution of the LMP3 racer from the French manufacturer. With Nismo dropping support of the naturally aspirated V8 used in the previous two iterations, the P325 will be powered by a twin-turbo V6 developed by Oreca. The exact details of this new engine are not yet released but all should become clear when the 2025-generation LMP3 cars hit the tracks.
Ahead of its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, the wraps were taken off the new Hispano Suiza Sagrera. It is the third all-electric model in the Spanish manufacturer's line-up. It features a second generation battery package that is more powerful and only weighs 612 kg. The drivetrain consists of four electric motors, which are each good for 275 hp and a combined 1,100 hp. This allows the instantly recognisable Sagrera to accelerate to 100 km in a mere 2.6 seconds.

2024-06-11: Two 250 GT California Spyders to headline RM Sotheby's Monterey sale ...
Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder For the upcoming, flag-ship Monterey sale, Anglo-Canadian auction RM Sotheby's have consigned a pair of Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder. The most remarkable of the duo is chassis 1795GT, which accordingly has a $16 - $18 million estimate. Shown at the 1960 Geneva Motor Show, it is the very first short wheelbase example produced. Moreover, it is equipped with desirable covered headlights and came equipped with a factory hard-top. The short wheelbase prototype has had just two owners in the last 40 years and the California Spyder is consigned from the collection of a legendary German football player.
Also due to cross the block in August is 1217GT, which is the 19th of the 50 long wheelbase California Spyders built. It was originally sold to an Italian shipping company and later starred in a famous Italian movie. Among the next custodians were Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert and American collector John Mozart. Offered from long-term ownership, the Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder is estimated to sell for $5.5 - $6.5 million.

2024-06-06: Le Mans preview with winning Matra and Rondeau and new Golf GTI Clubsport ...
Matra MS670C This weekend, the build-up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans will kick-off with the official test day. To get you in the mood, we have taken a closer look at two former, French winners. The outright victory was scored 50 years ago by Henri Pescarolo and Gerard Larousse in this fabulous Matra MS670C. It is the very last Matra sports racer built and raced only at Le Mans in 1974. Retained for many years by Matra, it is now part of the Le Mans Museum collection. As part of the centenary celebrations, MS670B-06 was demonstrated at Le Mans and the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2023.
Also out during these events was the Rondeau M379 that won the 24 Hours in 1980. It holds the distinction as the only car driven to a Le Mans victory by its creator as the driving duties were shared by Jean Rondeau and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud. Today M379-003 is part of a formidable collection that also includes several Le Mans winning Porsches.
At last weekend's Nürburgring 24 Hours, Volkswagen took the wraps of the latest Golf GTI Clubsport. It is powered by a 296 bhp version of the familiar turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox.

2024-06-03: 2024 Spa Classic report and 200-shot gallery ...
2024 Spa Classic report and 200-shot gallery The annual Spa Classic has grown to become one of the blue ribband events on the Peter Auto roster. With virtually non-stop action on the programme, the 12th edition looked like it would live up to expectations even before the weekend start. As it turned out, it did and then some thanks to the tempestuous weather the undulating Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is infamous for. We were treated to at least three seasons worth of weather in a single day. On Friday the rain got so bad that some of the sessions were cancelled. This certainly did not dampen the spirits and for the remainder of the weekend almost all races were able to take place without interruption. Among the highlights on track were the traditional fan favourites like the Classic Endurance Racing groups but also the newly created Endurance Racing Legends 2 field reserved exclusively to GT2 cars from the mid-1990s through to 2010. In addition to the races, there were also parades celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Porsche 917.
Our reporters braved the weather with this spectacular 200-shot gallery and detailed report as the results.
