Chassis:
Delivered new to its first owner in November of 1930, this 4½ Litre Bentley is clothed with a Saloon body that was constructed by Maythorn & Sons following Weymann patents. Usually the Weymann type body is only used for the section aft of the firewall, Maythorn clearly tried to get a singular look for the car, so the aluminium engine covers are also wrapped in the same fabric as the rest of the body. The original owner retained the car until at least the outbreak of the War when his service point was closed by Rolls-Royce and no further records were kept. A subsequent custodian was Lieutenant Colonel Evans, who acquired the car in 1950 and would own it for 13 years. Later in its life, it had further long-term owners in WA Liddell and Richard Sanders. Each owner cherished the car and it has survived in remarkably original condition. In recent years, it has been part of the stable of a London-based Scotsman, who has not only shown the car at events around the world but also used it regularly as a family car. Among the numerous outings were several trips up to Scotland and back.
