Well, using my cell phone I managed to get a fairly decent quality image.

I spend most of my time on a VW enthusiast' site TheSamba.com :: Volkswagen Classifieds, photos, shows, forums, and information
I never had my ownership challenged but I suppose there are people that make claims that they really cannot back up.
To answer some questions;
The Karmann Ghia was purchased in 1996 as a basket case

We spent almost 10 years on the restoration. We ended up with what could be better described as a Resto-Mod.

I dreamed of this car from my childhood. If I could have ordered a Ghia straight from the factory this is how I would have wanted her. :D
The bodywork was handled by a Vw/Porsche specialist and was done on a rotiserie.
The seats were refinished by a shop that has many years of experience in Vw restorations.
I rebuilt the engine which is not original. It is a 1641cc with dual Del'orto 36mm carbs.
All new brakes. The suspention, electrical and all rubber seals and weather stripping was replaced. All the chrome was re-plated. I re-assembled her and installed wool squareweave carpet and a new headliner.
I put my soul into her as this is my favorite auto of all time. Probably put way to much $$'s into her but to me she is worth ever penny spent:eek:

I don't think anyone really doubted you, it's just our usual policy when a member shows their car, even if it's a 23 year old honda civic with rusted exterior. Good to hear that you enjoy the car so much with all the work and $$ put into it.
I was gonna say that too - the interior seats with matching colour and white - is benne. Maybe Leon can correct my Italian, I was thinking something like molto benne for very good or something..

benne - good
molto benne - very good
You got it right. And indeed the VW is a looker.
it has just one n
so, bene or molto bene
but we wouldn't use that, but something like perfetti, perfect(s)
still that Karmann is astonishing, and excellent conditions too

Or, just wave your arms around... :)

Beautiful KG, King Karmann! Were you ever tempted to use Beetle headlights as you went the resto-mod route? I really appreciate the stock wheels and ride height, there's plenty of slammed VDubs already. I recently put the stock wheels back on my VW after years of rolling on vintage Empi stars.
I've also been remiss in not posting any 'Noggs aside from the GTR (which I don't own, but got to drive for an extended test and photo shoot ). So here's a couple... '64 Deluxe Bus and '67 911S. These are my daily drivers, the bus was repainted in '97, the 911 found a few months ago after nearly 30 years of storage. It has 46,660 miles on it now... 600 of 'em put on during Monterey Historics week. :D

Are you or one of your buddies on vwvortex? I think I saw some pics of a "barn find" 911 on there. It looks great, any more pics?
-
love that old 911. i keep thinking to myself; no more porsches, try something different. but then something like that pops up :(
-
Sorry Johnny, no... didn't know about VW Vortex. But there are fresh barn-finds all the time, seeming like they slipped through a portal until some lucky sap drags them into the light. Never get tired of hearing about good ones.
It's weird for me too, Clutch. After deciding no more new cars in favor of driving strictly vintage, and having two other Porsches
(wife's '68 Targa Sportomatic and '62 Hardtop outlaw, under construction) I woke up one day and decided all I WANT are Porsches. :D Anyone wanna buy some old BMW's? Daddy needs a 914/6.
I'll hold onto my 700's and CSL for now, but bring a trailer... I've got two 2000CS's in my warehouse looking for a new home. CHEAP.
Disclosure: the "good" one needs restoration, the other is pretty much a parts corpse.
