I'm not sure about that... I'm not a fan of the old one, but I prefer it to this one.

They could have made the new one a lot worse. FWD, for example.
But then the drivetrain layout is not part of the styling, is it?
The 1er has certainly never been a car you bought because it was pretty...

But knowing that it is FWD would ruin it even more. The rwd insures that it's at least unique in it's class and will be tolerated a bit more.

Precisely, I didn't buy a 1er because it was pretty.
I bought it because it was rear wheel drive.
And would do so again.
I see a bit of BMW X1 when i look at this car, and that's bad.
This.
What disturbs me most ist the front. Too much empty space between grill and the headlights...
Really not a beautiful car and even worse than the first one.
even worse than the first one.
The old one didn't look bad, infact i think the old one was a great looking car, especaly the 1M.
The old one isn't exactly a pretty car.
^^ It's not bad looking though.
The old body-style 1M just set an 8:15 at the Nurburgring, which is seven seconds slower than the wrong wheel-drive Ultramegane Trophy. This is a useless comparison really, but the reason for the M's lack of speed is interesting. Apparently, the driver thought that the suspension was too stiff for the Ring. Now, I know that the surface of the Rig is infamously choppy, but I think the idea of a road car's suspension being too stiff for a racetrack is laughable.
I know German car companies like to put overly-stiff suspensions in their cars, but this is a little silly.
Grille looks too big, the front headlights are out of proportion. I hope the fix the front of the car in the inevitable facelift 3 or so years from now.

Talking bout the 1M means talking bout the coupe. We donīt know that yet and i suppose itīll take some time for the coupe and convertible to come. The old coupe however was indeed a quite nice car.
The 3/5-door verison was really not what i would call beautiful, but as ferrer said the sportiest alternative in the segment by far.
^^^ Yes but the new 1 Series coupe will have the same light shape and grill ect, so i can guess what the new 1 Series Coupe will look like, it's not going to be pretty.

In my opinion it is.
The drive more than makes up for it, though.

Even though the little Renault has (almost) a 100bhp deficit?
Interesting.
I'd still take the Bimmer. Altough I could almost buy to Renaults for the price of the 1er...
