2 cars; something practical, and something fun.
Saab 93 Sports Combi for practicality, and either a Fiat 500 Abarth, or Lotus Exige for fun. Might throw in an Alfa for other purposes...

Toyota Soarer with the 4.0l v8. Always loved the shape of these. Cheap as in NZ (3000 dollars NZ gets you a bit of a tatty one but 5 grand and you'll have one in fairly good condition)

Well, it's definitely unique on a list of dream cars. :p

-> Well this is fun, let me try:
Current car-> Honda S2000 [AP2] (USDM Ver.1) roadster '04

^ What more can I say, the best and the most rewarding car I've ever driven and owned.
Muscle car-> Pontiac GTO [VZ] 6.0 {6MT} sport coupe '06

^ The best muscle car I've driven by far.
Pickup/4x4-> Nissan Titan PRO-4X (crew cab, long bed) pickup '08

^ Although I haven't driven it yet, this truck offers the best packaging that meets my wants and needs.
Road tripper-> Honda Element EX AWD {5MT} cuv '07

^ Just look at it, an instant mobile dorm room.
Daily driver-> Honda Fit Sport (no navi) {5MT} hatchback '09

^ Gotta save gas a bit.
Luxury/European car-> Volkswagen Jetta TDI Sportwagen '09

^ Saw this car @ the LA Show and I fell in love with it. Too refined for me, so I consider it my luxury car.
Beater/Minivan-> Honda Odyssey LX or EX (7 seat) '98

^ Minivans these days are becoming too big. And this is my solution. (note: that Odyssey on pic is tuned)
Beater/Eco-> Honda Insight {5MT} '05

^ Yeah, yeah, hate me on it. But to me this car is special, it was built at the same factory where my roadster was built. And the dash is quite similar too (no more S2K withdrawals).
To be tuned-> Subaru Impreza WRX Sport Wagon [5MT] '06-'07

^ I miss my old wagon and it was fun to tune it up again. The ultimate sleeper.
-> Yes I know most of the vehicles I listed are Hondas. Not to be a fanboi or anything. Its just Honda's always have been treated me good ever since my old 1992 Intergra [DB2] GS-R. And my Boss' Ridgeline, his girlfriends Odyssey, his mom's Fit, his son's Accord, and my best friends old Civic [EP3] Si (now also a S2K dude). ;)

Hey great idea for a thread!
First, the car I have always secretly wanted is a 90's Toyota MR2. Cheap, mid-engined fun. I'm actually split on this between the 90's and the newer one, bother have their stronger points. The older being looks and engine, but the newer would be more dependable and is actually lighter.
Second, Mazda MX-5. People say its a girl's car, but this car has the spirt of sports. The newer ones are more masculine looking too. Definitely a fun car.
Third, and this is probably more the far end of the scale, a Mazda RX-7. They were wonderful cars, and still are today. For pure sports car, I'd absolutely love to have one of these.
next, a car I've always secretly loved, but generally hate the people who own them. :D Maybe its just because of the time when i was growing up, but the E46 will always be the 'real' 3 series to me.
Lastly, from left field, I actually like the new Imprezas. Don't tell former me. <.< I think I was more sad to see the old one go than anything, but now that I'm over it, I can appreciate these hot hatches for what they are. Anyone else finding they like it now? I'm seriously thinking my next real car might be a newly used WRX. Maybe I'm just older now so I can associate more with the subtle looks yet still with it styling of the car.

I rather like the Insight, it's a clever car. A shame that it can only seat two though.

1. Honda S2000 AP1
Absolutely brilliant car that has been my overall favourite car for the last ~8 years. In some years I hope it'll be within reach:). I've driven a 91 Mazda MX5 several times this year. Such an addictive car and every drive is such an event. Beiing a convertible also enhances the experience, hearing more of the exhaust and the engine note bounces of the rock walls and you get the chance to soak up the scenery. It needs a little more power to let the rear wheels slip but too much power would only mean less time spent on the loud pedal because of speed limits. I believe the S2000 would be my ideal car, reasonably light, brilliant engine and transmission, good looks, reliability, entertaining (and challenging) handling.
2. Alfa Romeo GTV6
It had to be an Alfa Romeo and it had to be a V6. Would probably need a lot more maintenance, but I think it would excite all the sense.
3. 199x Renault Laguna 2.0
When it's not about driving, but getting there. Extremely comfortable car and enough grunt. I would rather have this one than all new sedans. I think the Laguna is good enough

Wow, the S2000 is a common pick. I really like the car, but I wasn't expecting this much popularity.

I was a little surprised myself. According to sales numbers it's not very popular...
