Old used Lotus Carlton for cheap rear wheel drive thrills and insane power with no electronic germblins...
Have you ever driven a traction control-fitted Commodore or Monaro? Obviously not, the traction control does sweet dick all in a 320hp Calais, it does even less in a 500hp car. And you can switch it all the way off.

electrical problems in monaro's? lol, down here we haven't even figured out how to put electrical items in cars yet

No need to answer I guess... :p
However for us Europeans a Lotus Carlton/Omega is much more accessible than an aussie muscle car... :(
I personally would choose a Carlton/Omega GSi 3000 24v- at least if you crash it then you haven't wrecked a legend!
Plus, a bolt-on supercharger kit would work wonders for it...

Or you could modify it/find a 4000cc Irmscher straight six... ;)
No, it didn't. Auto/SMG/Tip only.
Oh wow, well I really could've sworn it did. Maybe I just assumed.
Now I don't like it anymore.

Go to a dealership that has one in stock, pretend you're interested, drive it. You'll love it again. :)

By the way, have you driven one of the current A6's? If so how does the steering compare?
I'm sure Waugh-terfall will be able to tell us within the next 12 years... :D

I don't think I'll care by then... :p

I have driven a 2003 2.7T, but not the 06-current ones, however my dad was thinking about an '07 4.2, and he said the steering sucked. I was with him when it test drove it, and it was direct, but it stuck where you put it, it was wierd. This steering is amazingly good, very short ration, about 2-3 turns lock to lock really nice thick and somewhat small steering wheel.
EDIT: If you're considering one, go try one. It could have been a dud, or might have had to do with the fact that it was the S-Line model? I would still reccomend one though, just get the steering sorted out, because they really are exceptional cars.

No I'm not considering one. I asked because my uncle has one (a 3.2 Quattro Tiptronic) I found the steering really weird. I wanted to see if someone had experienced the same thing, or if it was only me.

Yeah I know I would, it is an astounding car. And it sounds like a great transmission, even if it's not a proper manual.
Don't forget, you can get it converted... I wouldn't mind an auto one, if I was going to make some cross-continental trips, but otherwise... not so sure.
