Ales' collection of classic Mustangs - including all three of Ford's in-house 'Boss' specials - will be housed within the church. The wall behind the pulpit will feature a mural of - and we're really, really not making this up - Jesus at the wheel of a 1966 Mustang.

"Somebody asked me if I wasn't worried about people thinking this was sacrilegious," says Ales. "Well, I hope Jesus has a sense of humour."

I like to think that Jesus would approve of this. He'd be practising turning water into beer or petrol, and convincing the various saints to go road tripping. While drunk. After all, the monks to make some very tasty beers, so it stands to reason that they'd be served at any celebrations...

This is perfectly normal in america just about everything is themed and now its just spreading to churches.

You never know it may rekindle some intrest in the church it has a universal appeal and I personally dont see it anywhere near as bad as christian rappers or tom cruise jumping up and down on furnature in an effort to sell their product.

In the book Brave New World by Aldous Huxley they worship "the divinity of Ford". Orwell was a student of Huxley.

Anyway, whoever said 'only in America' is right. We've got a sick fetish for our own recent history and, for whatever reason, we've latched onto that dismal secretary's car (Carrol Shelby's words, there) that is the 1966 Ford Muskrat. Shelby did the best with what he had, but he didn't have much.

I'll be happy when we all us 'Yanks get over this Muskrat fetish and go back to worshiping the '68 Chevelle 454, as our forefathers intended.
