The initial rumors and even recent reports were that there would be less cars in GT5. Why all the mundane cars just to make the 'list' look impressive?.
agreed
99% of them will have the same engine sound and physics I bet.
have you EVER played any grand turismo game?
-
Here's hoping for a Saab 9-2X Aero in GT5!
-
nobody had even seen the new BMW 3series and it was already in GT4....
Yes, it's pretty impressive. Another car I never expected to be there is the Mazda CX-7 concept.
-
If it does come with half the listed Astons, Bentleys, Koenigseggs, Saabs, McLarens, Nobles and Radicals I'll be very happy
-
April first as passed already lol, i can say the game COULD HAVE all these cars, but it wont, let's see the 340 car list, that's the only one that matters :p

Completed all missions in GT4...and used to participate in GT4 competitions here on UCP.

It's just another GT wishlist some idiot posted as the real thing. Happened with GT4, will happen with this again.
Only brain dead folks would actually believe 10,000 cars would be modelled. It takes at least a month to model one car and less than 20 cars get done per month. You do the math people.
-
According to the Car and Driver article it takes 180 days to perfect one car....so I'm with you, the list is bunk.
-
IŽve read that youŽll have some cars and then be able to buy/eran others trough the internet. So they could upgrade cars for some time, that could increase the total number of cars, still 10.000 really is enormous!!

This is probably off, but let's say 50 cars are done per 180 days (about 6 months). There's about 90 something folks, so we'll say 50 are devoted to the cars. That means 100 cars are done every year. GT5 started production in 2005. With a release date of 2008, that means the game would ship with 350-400 cars (sounds reasonable considering current info).
Ok, so with 400 (max), that leaves 9,600 cars. Divide that by 100. 96.
The entire work force of Polyphony would be dead before even 8,000 cars are done, and ready for download.

Agreed.
Also, let's face it guys, 10,000 cars is overkill. GT4 had 721 cars, and most people won't drive half of them anyway.
-
Not to mention that there are some cars that are impossible to get. For instance, the Mitsubishi Starion road car. Where do you get that car? there's no price on it but I'm 86% done. I know what I win in the Missions, Extreme Races and the Endurance races. They're there for show.

This might sway me towards the PS3 instead of the 360.... I hope they have engine/body modifications 'cuz nobody would want a Chevy Astro unless they could whore it out.
Anyway.... They've got enough cars to keep anyone interested, and to quote one of our members, "weed out the weak" or something to that effect.
