OP is only a facet of the systemic issue of Canada ignorance. The post is pretty funny too.
See?! You are even analyzing this thread from an individualistic perspective!
A diesel is like a Las Vegas hooker. They will last a long time, but they are quiet as hell and you don't want them around for too long.
@jcp123: you're fine. :)
105mph! That's a pipe dream with this killjoy, car hating communist country. Average speed cameras on our Motorways (limit: 50mph for long stretches) see to that. - Idiots here seem to think the Earth will implode if you hit three figures...just like they thought people would suffocate on trains (because apparently they wouldn't be capable of breathing air above a certain speed) when they came along...
...oh wait.
Well if you do that often you will probably end up with no points on your license and the ability to drive (legally) removed...
Which is a shame, because the only thing the Benz does moderately well is high speed cruising while being frugal.
It is pretty much shit at everything else. And cost 37 grand.
Damn.
Mazda is teasing us with thoughts of selling the new 6 with a Diesel...somehow I think the won't end up doing it, though.

Wasn't it confirmed already?
Not sure if it has been or not. But I have heard Honda and Huyndai, for example, tease us with ideas of selling Diesels here and then retracting the whole idea enough times to be skeptical when I hear it from anyone now.
US people very keen on diesels, apparently.

They won't be when they wise up to ongoing maintenance costs on these...the secondary market will hammer their values, I predict.

It isn't that bad, these days.
[I]a diesel car in the United States in more than 20 years. The compact Cruze sedan, introduced last year, will be available in early 2013 with a diesel engine that should beat the 42-mpg highway figure of the gasoline Eco trim..It's also a milestone; other than the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, no other compact car offers a diesel engine.

Well, I doubt they'd be advertising it so heavily if they don't plan to bring it to the US.

Lutz is not a fan of diesel car in US....makes less sense finacially here...

I incline to agree since Diesel does cost more than even premium gasoline, whereas even in Canada its at the price of regular.
Looks like Mazda's pretty well finalizing the diesel here...less so for Hyundai or Honda.
