I'm currentley employed by VAG ;) (VW)
The Passat Alltrack is quite nice, however a bit old, and a new one is on the way (might appear next year)

I don't think Mazda has other 4wd's than the CX models.
What about a Volvo XC70?
Haven't been in here in a couple of months, and today someone has commented on this thread :D
The 508 is treating us nice, and has since the first day.
But the "itch" has gotten to me again, and I'm officially look for a new spacey estate..
Wants:
4wd and automatic transmission.
Space, both in the personal division and cargo division.
Not Audi
Not BMW
Rather not go Mpv/SUV.
Any thoughts from the crowd?
Subaru Legacy?

Lolvo is one the top of the list right now, but not the xc70.
V70 AWD is rather my cup of tea. Don't like all the plastic details on the XC, and I think they are too soft in the suspension. We have frost in the ground for 6 months a year, and roads get bumpy and rough in springtime. Too soft suspension don't cope well in those conditions. I don't need the ridehight either, but 4wd is optimal on our roads in winter. I just tried a V70 D4 AWD and I liked it very much, despite having the sportier R suspension. I don't think I want it that stiff if I would go for a V70, but maybe some of the R-design looks. They look good, at least in this generation. So I am eager to see more of the 2014 version. And it's also one of the roomiest estates.
The Passat is a very good seller up here, so you blend in the crowd of them pretty quick. I don't fancy the looks of the new front. The 4motion system I am familiar with, and it performs very good. I might have to trie one out..

This is also a car I have to look at. Despite being from Asia.

I'll happily arrange a sale for you if you fall for the Passat ;).
(There might actually be money to save for you, as we in Denmark get a discount to counter our higher taxation)

Subarus are good cars. We almost considered one as there is a dealer opening up here after not having one for about 10 years.
My parents ALMOST got a Subie in 2000...until my Dad drove the Passat 4motion. He was sold, even for an extra $8k. The Subaru wasn't a bad car at all, don't get me wrong - but the Passat at that time was simply that much better.
Also have a friend who had a Subaru Impreza wagon. She let me drive it, it was quite a competent car though even with the 5-speed a bit of extra power would have been appreciated.

Now we are talking big bucks ;)

They say it's pretty much useless.
Stick with the GT model, but it doesn't have four wheel drive...

Had a look at the V60, I like the looks of it, more than the V70 actually, but it's just to small/tight for us..
I wish the new facelift design of the V70 followed in the new V40/60. Especially the rear end.
Peugeot 508 SW Hybrid AWD?
Considered, but infact I will go down in luggage compartment because of the hybrid installation around the rear axle. I have not tried it, but if the EMG gearbox is as slow in this setup as in the 112hp version I'd rather steer clear. And the looks is a bit too tacky for me.. XC70ish..
Now we are talking big bucks ;)
It's actually not that bad priced here, the hybrids is "rewarded" a bit up here, strangely enough.. A V70 D4 AWD would set me back at least 10.000 euros more than the entry RXH, which is pretty decent equipped.

Agreed, the GT would be perfect with a proper 4wd system :)

Now the Peugeot is gone and it has been replaced with a Volvo V70 D5 AWD.
It's a red 2010 with R-design package, and pretty much all the extras optional. Will make a new thread when I have time to wash it again :)
