indeed.it has it's appeal on the looks side too.i have looked at it sriously, for a very cheap car to drive around the country and to france.
When Peugeot was really awesome and made RWD cars. ;)
That's what the 505 is all about. :)
another one... :)
Four wheel drive conversion on the estate model by Dangel.
Sheeeet that's pretty cool actually. Reminds me of an Eagle or old Cherokee at first blush.
A Peugeot transmission was offered in some Jeep/AMC vehicles in the '80s and '90s so you're closer to the mark than you might think.

Peugeot transmissions and Renault engines (or whole cars...), the French history of AMC.
(I didn't know about the Peugeot part though)
Yeah I would have figured Renault parts, not Peugeot parts. Just goes to show you how interbred the damn industry is; even 30 years ago, before the current bigger wave of consolidation and globalization.
Well, thinking about it the Renault deal gave AMC access to the PRV engine (if I'm not mistaken). Maybe the Peugeot connection comes from there.
Yep, the Jeep Comanche and Cherokee could be had with engines by AMC/Jeep, Renault, or GM and transmissions by Chyrsler, Aisin, or Peugeot. Auto-industry incest is not a new phenomenon.
I don't know of any American uses of the PRV engine, unless you count the DeLorean as American...
