That's why this show car sports the number 66 #2
The ACO has modified the rules specifically to homologate the GT; this also meant accidentally homologating the 650S for GTE. Can you imagine the irony if the McLaren won in 2016 defeating the works Fords? #3
Something something turbos? Does that open the door for an turbo 488 GTB GTE car too?
I don't think turbos are outlawed per se. And anyway they probably could race the 488 GTB with the normally aspirated from the current car like Mercedes-Benz does with the AMG GT GT3 which has the old 6.2 litre V8 from the SLS.
It's the carbon fibre chassis which was forbidden and which is now allowed.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I do wonder how turbo engines work for the BoP in GTE.
I'm not familiar with Le Mans classes, how competitive is the GTE class in comparison to LMP1? I assume it's a bit slower no?
Unless Ford goes for overall #1, this seems like a marketing gimmick. Any racing is good I guess, but go for gold or go home.

A solid P1 lap is 3:20, a solid GTE lap is breaking 4:00. Winning GTE is no mean feat, and if Ford see success it may spur them on to a full P1 EcoBoost Hybrid entry.
I've found some more recent photos dating back to 2016 or 17 though Le Mans this year. They're from various Ford Performance related sites, and if you want the non-resized versions, I'd recommend visiting Ford of Europe's Ford GT microsite.
