Hi turbonutter. That is a great looking car but could you please post the images as attachments?

Matra et Alpine 03-22-2013 03:13 AM

Whose kit have you based it on ?

Great specs.
Will you be competing ? On what types of events ??
With the power/weight and rear end grip you have a winner for hillclimbs if you can afford the soft rears that will likely be destroyed each run, BUT worth it :)

turbonutter 03-22-2013 03:34 AM

Pictures now as attachments :)

The Kit was a CAE Corse I, I bought it as a 10 year old kit and totally stripped and rebuilt it. If you want to build one today I would go with Lister Bell

See My Website

Its mainly a "fun car" this year I hope to do a few track days to get used to the car & maybee next year I will do some Hillclimbs or sprints. If I do it will be on road tyres most likely. (its on 888R's)

Thanks turbonutter!

This is very cool. Keep us posted. Perhaps an on-board video of a hillclimb competition if you can swing it.

That is absolutely awe-inspiring! What a car!:D

Very cool cars.

That Lister Bell kit looks very cool

jcp123 03-23-2013 12:58 PM

Wow, what a neat looking car. Looks like it'll "s**t n' git" too, to borrow a phrase from this neck of the woods.

This is pretty much exactly what I dream of building. So very jealous.

What do you think of the quality of the Hawk Cars kits?

Whatever kit you choose to build - if you want to build with a spec like mine I hope you have a deep pocket.

The hawk kit is good quality, but there is a lot of work needed with the body panels as they all need trimming to fit.... As I said above If I was starting a build today I would buy a Lister Bell Kit. It uses the most modern components & has the best quality body work....

jcp123 03-30-2013 04:13 PM

I have not seen any aftermerket body panels which did not need a lot of massaging in order to get them to work...fibreglass is the worst, though.

I refuse to buy aftermarket metal for the Mustang if I ever need to replace anything, as it's a thinner gauge than the original stuff. That's no big deal for, say, a small piece like the front and rear valances, but anything else - hello eBay.
