It in fact has a twin turbo V8, IIRC this engine was first unveiled in the 1989 Shamal and powere a number of Maseratis, including the Quattroporte Ottocilindri, before being replaced by the current 4.2-litre normally apsirated V8 in the Coupe and the Spyder.
