1./2. Notice the etc. part. There are thousands upon thousands of Japanese cars I would like to keep stock. If I named them all, I would fill up pages if not volumes.
3. I love both equally. The RB26DETT had a great life, but only time will tell if it will have the same tuning potential. Of course, I'd like to see someone cram the new VR into a Fairlady Z or Roadster. Maybe even a 510...:D
WOW...a VR 510...now that I want to see....Ive seen RB's into Datsun Z's & 350Z's and they perform well...I guess time will tell on the VR engine;)
-
I remember another thread where some people tried to find the weight of the RB26 and no one had a firm answer.
720lbs (could have been more as that may have been for the RB25)
plus it's a longer engine than the V6 of course, so it juts out over the axle.
All this talk of ringers has me wondering if someone will be able to replicate the Ring times Nissan had.
i would like to see if it can be done as well.
Sounds like the GTR has shite tyres as well. Now who's the fanboy?
wouldn't quite call them shit though....runflats yes, but quite special runflats.....;)
one of the things I am most impressed about it was that they basically show that if you can make use of your tire properly you can do some pretty crazy thing with a stock car. Nissan basically had the tires ordered (from both Dunlop and Bridgestone) and setup the car optimumly for them....

So it was cast iron I assume? That is much heavier that the performance engines I am familiar with. Are there any other reasons?
As for the ring times, it would be nice if someone went to the ring and spent a few days there in different conditions with a race driver setting laps but I doubt this will happen.

i cant believe how slow the GTR is in 1/4 mile and 0-60.
I know it probably wont matter in europe or japan but i wonder if that will affect its sales in the US where drag racing is king.

Well it still won America's top selling car magazines compaison, so im sure it'll be offset.

I think Nissan has made a small enough number of GT-Rs and the car has enough buzz and fans to sell out easily.
-
The ZR-1 wasn't even included.
-
I knew it was not laptimes but only got it was the weight to power ratio.
What were the 1/4 mile times they got for each car?
That is times street-racing from red light to red light. Times taken on a Casio wristwatch. Tested at random length, random driver(drunk and sober), random weather. As random as you get it.

well it was built for more hp i guess.. the block itself is supposed to be pretty strong.
still waay heavier than required.

yeah, i don't mind too much, anything under 8 min is going to be fast, but if someone else can replicate nissan's time..

Good times.

They'll be making more though.

MCR R35 GTR versus an RE Amiya FD RX-7. The Skyline has 20hp above stock with a chip, while the RX-7 Is a full built bridgeported 13B twin turbo setup for this sort of run.

Define small because in Hong Kong, there are tons of them running around.
