What Jerry said -
Engine starts fine when cold. After driving a short distance (10 minutes) or longer (one hour or more). Park the car and return 15 - 30 minutes later. Turn the ignition key and the engine will continue to crank strong but will not start. So I shut it off , try again foot down on accelerator pedal , dranks , sputters sometimes it will start. Sometimes I have to shut it off, wait 15 minutes and it may start right away or have to repeat the process. The thing is that it does not happen all the time. It may start fine for a day , and then next day same problem..Appreciate your help!
 Strange. It just seems weird that it could happen one day, and be fine the next. Maybe your spark plugs are due a replacement? Im not a mechanic (yet), so i am sure there are people out there that could help you. Matra Et Alpine is bound to know whats wrong ;)

Did you take the car to a main meredes dealer?
AF
this is a independent mb "expert". before it was at a mb dealer it was not fixed
Strange none of them could fix it, conidering the private guy was an "expert" and he didnt fix it :(
Anyway, I will keep looking and thinking how to get around youp problem. Oh, and welcome to UCP!!!

I had that problem in my old Rover, it was running hot, so when I stopped it somewhere the fuel in the lines would evaporate, and I wouldn't be able to start it straight off. Had to re-core the radiator. Are they days that it works cooler than the ones it doesn't?
Hi, That is interesting. It was running hot. So the thermostat was replaced. Now it is not running hot but the problem is still there.
Try getting a radiator flush product and running that through.
