Did the 190E 2.3-16 and 2.5-16 carry AMG badges?
I'm pretty sure the Evo 2 did, and I suspect the Evo as well.
Of them the Evo (being the most understated) is a brilliant car

E63 Wagon for me. Just looks cool and no wagon should be that fast.

If you know why, you know why.

AMG model. Porsche did the additional development on the 500E.
CLS 63 for me, it's just different from other models.

Yeah, I was just about to say. What about the 190 E? That should be a pretty nice ride.

190E 2.6 was not an AMG car. MB didn't even own AMG at that point; it was an independent turner much like Brabus is today.

Ah...
Was still a fine automobile though.
Either way, you missed the C55 AMG. That's a very nice sleeper car. My friend's father owns one. I got a ride in it the other day. Very nice car. I really like the fact that you blend right into other boring cars. The C63 AMG with its body cladding is too "loud" (stylistically) to blend in.
Since it's not there, I pick the E63 AMG. The most reserved of the bunch, currently.

you could get an amg power pack for the 2.5 , that would be my choice.
However the 500e also floats my boat. The modern ones aren't special to me, they have an air of cheapness and blandness
Just remembered- you forgot the CLK DTM and CLK GTR.
Both are made of epic awesomeness.

I'm only comparing cars currently on sale.

Ah, I didn't see that condition in your original post.
I assumed that any AMG car is up for grabs.
It's good to narrow down the field to current production cars though.
NSX, the C55 is a good call. That car was kinda hard to discern from the regular C's of that vintage. Especially seeing as how many regular C's here in Vancouver had the AMG kit but not the engine.

I was never a fan of the SOHC/3 Valve engine. I really like the four cam/four valve 6.3 litre (6.2 if your technical); smooth, revs like hell and lots of torque. I also happen to like the way the new C looks and the fact that it comes in a fairly light-weight car and costs less than half as much as the CL and S 63 cars.
That being said I also like the poor forgotten S63 (who hasn't gotten a single vote yet!) more than S65; to me a V12 in a Benz always seemed unnatural - a massive V8 seems much more fitting.

True, and also I believe neither the 2.3-16 and 2.5-16 weren't AMGs in any of its variants.
But AMG did tune W201s. They put 3.2-litre straight sixes in it.

It's all about the sound and immense power in supercharged form. Yes it lazy, but I think it suits Mercedes-Benz very much. Mercs have never been about high revving and stiff uncomfortable suspension. I see AMG's as luxury cars which just happen to have very powerful engines.
And I agree with the V8 comment.

in that case, there is no AMG i like.
