nice car. I'm not a huge fan of "hot hatches" but as far as they go, these GTI's are by far my favorite. I think they are very clean and classy.
I read somewhere that you’re not meant to rev the engine very hard for the first 2-3 thousand miles. Because this helps break the engine in gently, this is meant to make your engine more reliable in the future.
quite untrue for performance tho
if you want maximum compression, you need to be going progressivly towards full throttle after the first couple of complete heat cycles (or after 50 km's roughly)
this is to bed in the rings & bore. . . . . . . you only have one chance to do it.
after the bore has been scuffed over its sealed like that till the engine is cracked open & given another hone
my last roadbike was getting top speed runs just before 500 km's on the odo
Pic from today...just a random shot after driving back from a wash...

Is the exhaust aftermarket?
Yeah got Magnaflow on last week...
Needs some adjustment to get it to line up properly....have to find sometime to use the lift at work again...
It makes it sounds less like a diesel....lol
^^^ Does it improve bhp, or just makes it sound better.
Nope, I don't think it does anything to power, just change the tone....
Its not that loud, but it is louder than the stock and a bit more "rumble" to it....but not droning at highway speed...
If it has anything performance enhancing, its lighter than the stock muffler/resonator combo...

Cool, iv'e got to get a new exhaust for my mini, at the moment iv'e got a boxer exhaust on it, it's way to loud and it makes the mini sound like a chavedup corsa. I plan to get a DTM exhaust, they sound so much better on a mini and there not so loud.
Wash, Clayed and Waxed....

Very, very nice! I've been lurking around the idea of getting one for a daily driver for a little while now. I really dig this generation.
RM, how to clean your car.

Congrats on the new ride. Enjoy the DSG. You won't regret it. The stock rims on that car are the best I have seen on a stock car.

Yes they are very local, but I don't think I can afford their service....I believe they charge ~$180/hr. or something like that.
At the moment though I think I am doing a decent job, aside from the plentiful chipping on the hood(for whatever reason this car is really bad for that, and black paint with WHITE primer under it does not help) I am swirl and hologram free. This done too purely doing the coin self-wash park under a carport with no garage, and no powered polisher...
