Lotus Eterne Concept 2010
The Statement of Intent

Enter the Eterne, the four door super saloon from Lotus. If the Elite is elegance incarnate then the Eterne is elegance redefined.

The Eterne is a true four door, four seater sports GT. Itís the ultimate expression of refined style, sophistication and grace. But wait. An elegant, graceful sports car? Surely not.
A sports car by definition canít be graceful. Powerful, exciting, aggressive yes, but not graceful. Yet here it is, the ultimate paradox - the Eterne. Power and grace, performance and elegance, beauty and strength all in one stunning package.

With a 5.0 litre pressure charged V8 engine delivering up to 620 PS the Eterne is aiming for best in class performance and efficiency.

In keeping with the rest of the new line-up, the Eterne will benefit from hybrid technology.
Dany Bahar, Chief Executive Officer of Group Lotus, said: ďThe Eterne is sensational to look and as with the rest of the range it also over delivers in all other aspects as well. Similar to the Elite, itís a car of perfect contradictions, itís compact yet spacious, high performing yet low emitting, relative lightweight yet still reassuringly solid.Ē

ďWe truly believe that there is a market for the Eterne, there is nothing else like it out there both in terms of design, capacity and performance. The biggest difference between the Eterne and itís class competitors is that itís not an evolution of an existing two-door model, itís a deliberate and considered stand-alone creation. Itís the ultimate four door sports car.Ē

Sometimes there are no rules to be broken, so it is time to define them instead.
I think I just heard Colin Chapman turn over in his grave.

I was at the press conference yesterday when they unveiled the car(s). They did say it was in the spirit of CC, but this is probably a rather liberal interpretation of what his spirit might be.

It's still the lightest performance sedan. The Panamera more than 300 kilos heavier despite having less performance.

Ferrer 10-01-2010 03:59 PM

It weights about the same as a normally aspirated XJ.

But that's rather pointless.

"...there is nothing else like it out there both in terms of design..."

Umm...

Supposed production is 5 years down the line... What will the big, wealthy manufacturers have on the table by then?

So, they've done a fantastic job of showing their hand in its entirety five years early

Also, what the hell is pressure charging?
Forced Induction, but of which sort?

You can fix that by unticking a couple of Miscellaneous Options.

I don't see it - maybe because I am not a Supporting Member?

I checked my User CP > Options, under the Miscellaneous Options section and only had one option there - to change the format of my forum text box to either basic, standard, or enhanced.

In the URL setting, when you enter a URL, it highlights a title, I don't think you can replace Wiki ones but for the most part thats how I show my links.

pimento 10-01-2010 09:53 PM

If you untick the boxes, you can prevent the auto thing from thinging wiki and yousetube things.
