Two new cars with the same power (340 bhp) but which one would you have

i would have the Audi RS3 because it looks better and has 4WD and love the fact it does 0-60 in 4.6

Ah, you need to do MORE of these kinds of polls! :D I'll take the M-coupe.
That's a hard one. Although i REALLY don't like Audi, I can't deny that their new straight 5 is a very good engine- and also an engine configuration I've missed for quite a while in their lineup. I'm also sure that it will have tons of traction with it's awd system. The exterior isn't that bad, too (although i would have preferred it to come in 3dr-guise because the Sportback looks somewhat odd).
On the other hand, I disappointed with the Bimmer right now. It may prove to be much better than i think in the future, but until then, I struggle to see it as anything but a 135 i with an M-package. On the other side, I'm pretty sure that it will be a much more "complete" car in terms of track performance.
It's a hard choice, but at the end, the BMW wins because it has a bit of an emotional advantage for me :)
RS3, no contest.
I'll take the 1 M, just because it is in a way the spiritual successor to the E30 M3.
Wouldn't mind either, though. ;)
1M just looks bad ass. besides we all know what the N54 can do! despite the HPFP isssues....
Spending 55 grand and ending with a glorified Golf must be slitghly disappointing.

Why?
RS3, no contest.
Why?
Having driven neither and having read no reviews of either (I don't think there are any) this is kinda a crapshoot.
Still, the BMW has more torque, is RWD (as opposed to what will likely be FWD biased AWD in the Audi), probably better balanced (legendary Audi nose heaviness), and has a 6 speed manual instead of a 7 speed auto.
What would I choose? What would the old school enthusiast choose?
I would take the BMW with the knowledge we have.

Probably just as disappointing as spending whatever BMW is asking for the 1M when you could just drop a few grand on pipe + tune + new wheels on an N54 135i and end up with something faster and cheaper.

If you boil that down to it's ultimate conclusion, aren't there a huge host of cars of which the same thing can be said?
In the 1M's case this may be more applicable, but still...

Mostly because of looks...I have never cared for the frumpy BMW 1 looks....and this version looks worse than stock IMO.
Secondly practicality....I like the utility of the Audi but I couldn't care less about the AWD.
What do you drive now Dino?

Well there's the chassis, which probably can't be replicated.
I agree that as an M car though, there's lot wrong with it.
However, I can't help thinking it will be great (probably).
The next M3 and M5 will be turbocharged.
There's gonna be a lot wrong with them too.

Are there any changes to it though? Or is it just suspension changes? Because that can easily be replicated by a decent suspension shop.
