Bugatti is keen to keep the Veyron's instantly recognisable silhouette intact. The next model could take its inspiration from a design proposal for the original Veyron.
Bugatti is likely to stick with the same engine as the old Veyron. power output will at least match the super Sport's 1,200 bhp and 1,500 Nm of torque. but performance will take a big leap forwards. 0-60 time of less than 2.5 sec and new record-setting 270 mph made possible by saving weight; tipping the scales at 1,838 Kg, the new Veyron wil make use of another VW own manufacturer's, Lamborghini, is quickly becoming a carbon-composite expert. we'll see the newcomer for the first time in 2013, before it goes on sale for £1 million.
i will post more info when i get it

another effort to ensure that also the 50 last cars of the planned production of 300 will be sold?
-
apparantley they will sell more of these so the 300 car limit will be Irrelevant because money is not a problem becuse a f1 team cost more to run than bugatti

300 will be the final number, and they would never had achieved that if they had not come up with all sorts of derivatives.

Ummm how many F1 teams does VW have?
-
Its crazy to think VAG will consider keeping an expensive, money burning effort running just for the sake of a successor. Unless I suppose the sedan that they are making turn out to be a success...

Veyron Vol. 2 will never have the impact of the original. No matter how big the figures are.
-
The story is from Auto Express.
I would say it lacks credibility.

I'd say it lacks any credibility.
Auto Express/Autobild/etc are known for bullshit.

Does it even matter? The Veyron is as relevant to most normal people's lives as Lady Gaga.

On that basis, most cars are.
-
On that basis, most cars are.
No, the average Joe or Jane purchased their family truckster because they ARE relevant to their daily lives. Transportation plus what status and style they can afford. Cars like the Veyron don't appear on most people's radar, but recall notices or thrifty affordable hybrids do.

That's exactly what I was on about. :)
All 2 seaters, all high performance variants and even most of the non-base cars are as irrelevant as they Veyron to most people, regardless of their ability or wheter they are interesting or not.
Now, I don't like they Veyron, and I don't like its aproach either. But I reckon that as an engineering achievement, what it did is quite amazing. So kudos for that.
-
^ Exactly why Gordon Murray's new little city car thing has the potential to have far greater impact than his long-time-record-holder Mclaren F1 ever could.
It won't come until 2013? It doesn't seem like that extensive of a re-engineering.

i know that the auto express artical was rubish and i don't like the veyron that much, but apparentley they have Already sold over 300 veyron over the past 5 year, (300 coupes, 150 grand sports, 30 super sports) i maybe Wrong but i am only going of auto express.

Those 300 INCLUDE all the subversions that have been issued over the years.
At the beginning of this year (2011) total production of ALL versions stood at 260 units.
-
that is what i though, this just show what auto express know and how rubish their mag is

Whole "story":

If they make a new one, it seriously needs to lose weight. They need to take the new approach that Lamborghini plans to (faster through lightweight; 1200hp is more than enough).
As for whoever said it will not have the impact of the current Veyron, I agree with you, as that is a very valid point. If a new Veyron is made, it will most likely not have the shock value the current one had in its 2005 introduction.
-
True. But I don't think they're going for shock value. Just because a car is no longer devastating to the world of motoring, doesn't mean it shouldn't be built :|

the weight problem is solved, VW are taking advantage of Lamborghini so the next veyron will be considerably lighter.
-
Yeah because Lamborghini has been historically known for light weight cars...
For that matter, they have have yet to build a tub car AFAIK, and Veyron actually has a carbon tub....
A 16 cylinder engine with a dozen cooler and 4 turbos are not going to be light to start with, along with the associated hardware that can handle that power in drivetrain and transmission....Veyron can be made lighter if its a much simpler car devoid of all that stuff, but then it wouldn't have been a Veyron...
-
Lamborghini will help alot i mean look what they Achieved, the Sesto Elemento Concept. 999kg, that an Amazing car. but i think this new veyron will be pointless. like other people have said it will never have the same impact as the first on.
-
I don't think this new Veyron will be anything.
I think there's a very good chance that the story is a complete fabrication.
The 16C could make it to production.
-
the SS was already a worthy update
article has to be BS , your not going to get another 12 MPH just by dropping 100 KG
-
2 mph. The SS hit a two way average of 268mph.

As I understand it (theoretically at least), weight has no bearing on top speed.
The only things that matter at the top are gearing, drag, and power.

Mabey not, but it does affect how quickly you get to top speed, and considering high rates of speed require lengthy roads to achieve, their would be a point where it would affect the top speed.
-
How many km do you need to hit the Veyron's current top speed? Its speed is achievable in only very few places already.
This all just kinda reinforces the fact that top speed is meaningless.

Probably gets up to speed quickly enough, but has to stop at a gas station to refuel with 100 liters every 10 minutes... or 72 kilometers.
2 mph. The SS hit a two way average of 268mph.
oh ok - my bad . 2 mph could be done with a favourable wind . the last 5% is always going to build very slowly
your HP is just about meeting the force it cannot overcome . at the VW ring , they are sitting on 200 km/h on the bank , then hit top speed about 2/3 down the straight
but the thing is a monster , its 100 - 200 mp/h accelleration is the stuff of dreams
-
i have added a new picture to the thread, this on is a bit better

I think a VW return to Formula 1 under the Bugatti brand would be more worthy a cause than the the Veyron. And some proper sports cars like the early Bugatti's would be much more suitable than the pseudo luxury cars they are gunning for.
-
The proper Bugatti did grand tourers as well as luxury cars.
-
The proper Bugatti did grand tourers as well as luxury cars.
yes i think they should start to make other car other than the veyron. the Company may start to make a profit then.
-
Doesn't VW already turn a profit? What's the news with the baby veyron that had 4 doors?
-
New 270 mph veyron
Bugatti/VW spent around a decade making the Veyron and fulfilling the ~255 mph claim. I have trouble believing they can just tack on some power and aero bits to reach 270. Going from 250 to 270 will take something like 600 hp.
