    Maserati Levante 2016-

Officially official now. Maserati's first SUV. It will probably have different engines and gearboxes available.

Well, if they're trying to be profitable, it'll work. Gas is cheap.

Whether it's a representation of what the brand stood for is irrelevant. If it worked for Porsche, it should work for Maserati.

This is real important for Maserati. They have to build awareness of it; it will have its place.

But it will have a hard time in crowded segment against players that are longer established. Porsche, BMW, Benz, Audi, Lexus. They're kinda late to the party. Looks quite sharp though.

It's basically make or break. If this doesn't work, Serge will have to come up with a dozen more restructuring plans to work through over the next 8 years.

I hope it works, it would be interesting to see Maserati with some development cash for once.

Maserati would have a great range with a GT, 2 sedans, an SUV, and a smaller more "pure" (whatever that means) sportscar.

    They just have to:

    1. Overall increase the driving pleaure of the core sedans first
    2. Increase sales massively
    3. Increase brand awareness
    4. Spend a ton of money on a marketing campagin, cuz rouding down about 0 people put a Maserati on top of their list
    5. Improve unacceptable (at current price point) interior quality
    6. Gain more trust in reliability perception

Then they will have a range enthusiasts and the public can love! No problem... Right?

I want Maserati to be better than they are; I want them to be another more left field legit choice to the Germans, like Jaguar has become. But it'll take time, and money. FCA seems good at bungling both of those vital resources, of which they have little.

As you say, essentially they have to be Jaguar. Except that Jaguar already was Jaguar back in the day, while Maserati used to compete with Ferraris. To put it in other words, the XE is the Mark 3, but what does Maserati have? The Biturbo?

Do you want affordable, smaller Masers? They are called Alfas.

And this is the problem with Fisler, they want to be VAG (or the GM of the olden days) but they lack money, resources and expertise to manage a portfolio of brands.

They've already killed off Lancia, and I fear Maserati may suffer the same fate eventually. I mean, currently, they make no sense to anyone...

Thing is, Jaguar's volume is a blip compared to major brands, and Maser's volume is a blip compared to Jaguar.

Maserati is a great asset, and if it is utilized properly it could generate a lot or revenue for FCA. It has the prestige, the uniqueness, and the scaleability. But they need to get word out. And the product frankly has to be better.
