New Volvos have pretty front ends. Looks just like the S60 concept. Very pretty.

No, that was when Ferrari came out with the new California. I don't have any problem cars designed for old, wealthy women having folding hardtops but when Ferrari thinks it's a good idea to apply it to a supercar, that's when we have a problem.
On the car: I don't like it. I just don't think it's as pretty as the original. But then again, it wasn't at all designed for my demographic so maybe it's best I don't like it.

The Cali is a GT.. it makes sense for them to have folding hard tops. It's the 458 and its line that should never have one.
I respectfully disagree. I feel like GT's should always be hardtops, just by definition. Even if the Cali isn't a hardcore supercar, like the F430 and F458 line, a V8 Ferrari should be a sportscar, above anything else. I feel like a hardtop convertable carries the connotation of an old lady's cruiser (like this Volvo).
that's true, traditional sports cars of old were often soft tops.

Is the hard top thing being an old ladies car a US thing? Cos here the first hard pop tops were the little chinzy peugoets and merc SLK, both for hair dressers. I did see a big old US hard pop top on the weekend that was putting its roof up.. seemed to take a bloody long time. If anyone's going to dissuade the granny car image, it's Ferrari.
Clutch, they were soft tops because the hard tops were slow, massively heavy and required a hell of a lot of room. Now that they're just a bit heavy, they can be used where appropriate.
I agree that a GT should have a hard roof, but I think for cruising around sunny California, a Cali would be a good choice.
I'll take a 458 with a solid roof, ta.

It still is the only good looking CC around. every other car in the category seems retarded, Volvo allways had a good design with theirs.

Yes!
I liked Volvos when they were little Swedish boxes. We had a '79 265GL wagon, bought brand-new, that lasted for 350,000 miles! Great car. Had an aluminum V6, 4-speed with electric overdrive.

I liked my Volvo.. box o' brilliance it was. Is.. my Dad keep's saying he'll sell it, but he's not yet...
This is probably true, for the most part, because we don't get Puegots (we've been spared by the grace of some higher power) and nobody buys the little VW with the folding hardtop (because most Americans, even our women, would rather buy an SUV if they're spending upwards of $30k USD).
