Quite an interesting article on Racism in Canada.

Apparently over 15% of Canadians are victims of racism. I find this figure to be quite high, at least higher than what I have based on personal experience.
I understand we have many canadians and immgrants here, any thoughts ?

I'm not Canadian, but it seems to me that a lot of people use racism as an excuse when the problem is actually individual. Just my two cents...

Well as they say, lies, damn lies and statistics.

Half of the poll results discussed were on what people BELIEVED it was NOT on what actually happened.
So it clearly reflects a VERY tolerant society who are concerned that their isn't any racial abuse and are concientiouis and concerned about it.

Those numbers of 1 in 6 suggest a skewed poll too as the vast majority of canadians are of homogeneous race and hence that figure should be different. it bears investigation into the indivudals polled !

Also if it was run in Queven then all the French-Canadians will say YES Until Canada speaks one language they always feel abused. I love visiting those guys

i personally agree with blackcat 100%. Having lived in Canada for a while and being an active member of the arab society over there, i found that most of the immigrants/non-caucasians blame racism on pretty much anything they can. A good example: Some guy gets pulled over by the cops for doing 120 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. Ofcourse he gets a speeding ticket, but guess what ? He balmes it on the racist cop !! After all, he wasn't going much more than the posted speed, and if he had been white he wouldnt of got the damn ticket !!
