its a fictitious force, it is "real" in an accelerated frame of reference, its just not "real" since its not made up of any of the fundamental forces

the only way to really increase traction is to increase to downward force on the rear of the car... I propose an automatic 20-gauge shotgun set in the center of the car and pointing directly upward.

Actually this is the same thing a wing does, except it forces air upwards instead of shotgun pellets

    I like that.
A shotgun in the center of every car.
I think that could really catch on.
    No wait.
That would mean that whenever you get a loss of traction you'd have to take one hand off the wheel to fire the gun.

    Wouldn't that be dangerous. . . . :-)

    ah

NOW I realise why all the rednecks have shotgun racks in the back window of their pickups. IT's to aid cornering - didnt' think about that

so has anyone heard about Bose's new active suspension? its based on electromagnetic shocks and responds to bumps & potholes etc. creating a ride that is both smooth and very stiff. Ive seen tests where car with this showed no body role at all during all kinds of cornering tests and double lane changes, and they can even jump a few inches, over curbs at least
