There is no terrible way of winning
there is just winning
agreed, classic cars are from all periods. Whether they are really classics depends on the status they had during their production time. There is a transition period in which a "second hand car" becomes a classic. Many will stay just second hand cars, others will reach the "other" status. It does not really depend on the production period.Originally Posted by DasModell
Personally i think There were classic cars from all these periods although the stand outs come from between 50 and 74 in my opion thats when australia and america were still making what could be passed off as great cars.
I'd say the 60's-70's is the best era for classic cars. Cars entered the modern era during this time. Some of the greatest cars are from the 60's like the Porsche 911, Jaguar E-type, Shelby Cobra, Ford GT-40, Ferrari 250 GTO, I could go on all day.
When people look back thirty years from now they will think the best cars were from now.
make a poll......it'd be easier to tally...
Anwyays, I'd have to say 1962-1967. The stang "America's original ponycar" was invented back then, and I still lvoe ths thing today.
Sorry but I disagree, I can't think of many cars built today that would be memorable in the future, the goldenage of the auto has passed us, we only know mass production now, there is little or no passion in any of the cars built today.Originally Posted by isenspen007

In every year of those there was a special car:
1932 - Maybach DS8 Zepplin
1963 - Corvette Split Window
1931 - Bugatti Type 41 Royale Coupe de Ville
1968 - Lamborghini Miura P400
1970 - Plymouth Hemi Cuda
1955 - Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe
There are probably more but I can't remember.

I'm mostly a '40's to '50's guy, so I have to split it between those...
An it harm none, do as ye will
Approximately 79% of statistics are made up.
All classic cars are wonderful, but i have a soft spot for the 30s, the 50's, and the 60's.
The 30's are the most "classic" of classic cars. Duesenberg, Cord, Packard....the true American classics come from then.
But i love the wretched excess of the 50's...like the '57 Cadillac ElDorado Brougham...the '58 Lincoln Continental...the '55 Ford Crown Victoria....
And i love Muscle. Cudas, Mustangs, Corvettes, Impalas, GTO's....
I'm undecided. But i'd have to say the 30's. Specifically, the '33 Duesenberg SSJ.
Cougar. Impala. Road Runner. Mustang. Barracuda. Marlin. Cobra. Wildcat. Falcon. Hornet. Tiger. Jaguar. Colt. Bronco. Viper. Bagheera. Gremlin. Stingray. Firebird. Pinto. Thunderbird. Eagle. Skylark.
