Air France crashes in Toronto.

Just happened a little less than an hour ago in Toronto, Canada.

Police an Air France Airbus 340 was trying to land when it ran into trouble and burst into flames.

The plane crashed into a ravine after apparently running off the end of the runway. It was carrying about 200 people, reported CTV.

Rescue vehicles have been rushing to the scene.

The wreckage is in a wooded area near Highway 401, Canada's busiest highway.

A regional police spokesman said the crew and passengers were evacuating the plane.

There was no immediate word on casualties.

The area has been experiencing stormy weather today, according to reports. There was a storm -- with lightning -- in the area at the time of the crash.

It's sad to see another plane go down, hopefully the people on the plane are allright, or at least not severely injured/dead.

Yeah. Sad. This really isn't Air France's first time either so they're in for a bit share of the trouble whether it was their fault or not.

There will be an official news conference at the airport in about 15 min. (5:30 p.m. in Toronto)

I'm not. Last time something like this happened US took an hour or so to hold a meeting.

Ok, this crash happened at 4:15'ish p.m. U.S. Eastern Time. The news conference was held at 5:30 p.m. So I suppose the US is fast.
