Topics not marked as read

Sometimes when I read a thread or even when I am the last to post in it, when I come back to that forum the topic will still be marked as unread.

Is there anything I can do about this?

You have to "read" your own post for the thread to be marked as read, ie clicking the update button/the thread name one extra time after returning to the thread.

On a related note what bothers me is when it happens the other way around. Does anyone know why that is and if it can be prevented? It just all of a sudden marks all forums as read and empties the "new posts" thingy... It's quite annoying to try to find out whether or not there's new post that might be worthvile...
