BUT some folks don't seem to know that usability IS a measurable engineering activity now and not the "ole black magic" it was 20 years ago In response to the points raised I felt required to stand up for the industry !!!!
Since when is posting on UCP an "engineering activity"?

The layout is fine, it doesn't need in-depth analysis to work out if user's productivity has increased or not.

There is no such thing as perfect, so there's no point in trying to tweak it untill it is. Changing one thing only brings up more problems.
    Thanks for all the fish

Isn't this conversation over yet? Every time I come here, I'm amazed this dead horse has more injuries.
I'm going to eat breakfast. And then I'm going to change the world.

Sorry, Pieter, I ALREADY POINTED OUT TO YOU that I stopped abotu the layout way bak when.
I left it alone, but "some" posted comments regarding the validity fo inputs.

So are we not allowed to back up our comments in the "new" UCP when htey are questioned ?

    Nobody said it was.
I pointed out htat usability is now an engineering activity

Everyoen thinks they know usability and as sai earlier so much "commonsense" about it isn't
The layout is fine, it doesn't need in-depth analysis to work out if user's productivity has increased or not.
Correct, it only requires lots of effort if not experienced or knowledgable.
Usability is like riding a bike --- easy once you've leared it and helluva difficult to start
There is no such thing as perfect, so there's no point in trying to tweak it untill it is. Changing one thing only brings up more problems.
See the last part is one of those commeon sense myths about usability.
Nobody is trying for perfect -- said that before, it doesn't exist -- but making the obvious errors at odds with UI practices researched and applied the world over is a little different

And that's my last defence of usability.
