driven both fast and on the same roads/tracks.
Bikes and cars are different beasts.
Sweeping twisties and bikes own.
Lots of hard braking and cars win.
Bikes win most when they can either get upright and nail the throttle or straighten up curves more.
But as kitdy says, on smile-per-buck a bike pulls the lead every time.
PS: BMW's are not the fastest/best handling bikes out there either
The problem off the line with bikes is hooking up. Cars have twice the contact and more leverage. Bikes are tiny patch and will lift the front thus slowign your pull. Smaller CC use revs and gear changes to make up for less torque. Quite believable the slower off the line. Been their and done that -- in both seats

Saw a comparison billed as the "$36k bike vs $36k car" that pitted a caterham against some bike (don't remember which.) Caterham won. The problem is that these comparisons often pit a soft car against a track oriented bike, with the same results as a soft car vs track car (think amg vs elise.) Often this means that both sides are happy because the car people can say they won and the bike people can say they cost a fraction as much and almost won.
The reality is, as matra said, they're different beasts. Rarely will the same person track both of them. The bike's probably going to have better power to weight, and the car's probably going to have more grip, and neither one's really better than the other. Just different.

Nope, Ferrari. What do you think the F in [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Agusta_F4_series]MV Agusta F4 series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] stands for?

I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.
No, no I meant as a type of company not their connections.
Ducati, is the known company which make fast red vehicles which win races sometimes. Like Ferrari.
MV Augusta has a glorious racing past, and make fast vehicles, but they don't race anymore and are usually only known by the enthusiast. Like Maserati.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
Not sure if this has been posted yet but it's an added incentive to buy a Lamborghini!

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

True.. Over priced ... Over hyped ... Owned by posers who seldom EVERY get above 50mph and require a mortgage for servicing
Never were. Only in the minds of BMW fanistas and their marketing department.
STOOD for, they quickly dumped most of the overweight car engine crap and redesigned them like bike engines -- MUCH lighter and better bang

Here's the same thing, except better produced and less Cloverfield camera shake.
