I still think it's British considering the surroundings... where's the photo from?
    Any other clues?

The proportions of the two cars don't match.
The mystery car's boot is smaller, the radiator aperture is smaller, the cockpit too narrow.
I thought it might be a Cisitaila, or Fiat from the early 50's but it's not.
    Any other ideas?
Given the size of the car, compared to the Scimitar, I don't think it is something "smallish" Italian, and if it was something bigger Italian, it would have been spotted a long time ago.
Was there ever an Allard Palm Beach Coupe?

I came across the car whilst inventing a short-cut through Croydon,
a suberb of London. The previous picture is from Google Street Map which I searched after taking
    this:

It was taken in a hurry and initially I thought it was an Aston DB2 but wasn't sure hence I
    sought the Street Map view.

As you see from the second picture the Scimitar replaced a P1 Allard so henk4, you may be on to
something. It does look like a Palm Beach but a bit more upright. Any other ideas anyone?

I further checked our Allard book, the Palm Beach Coupe exists, but it has a definite kink behind the door and a one piece windshield.

A K3 would be more likely as it has straight lines and a split windscreen. However I don't know whether a K3 Coupe was ever made so I went looking for it.
and then google gave me this....

    So it is a one-off J2

    Well Googled!
This is what I have been told but just wanted to see if there were any other opinions out there. An interesting car.

well, there were probably other opinions, but not necessarily the correct ones....

Good job! I thought it might be an Allard too, but didn't find any J2's with that front. Tupperware, next time stop and ask!

    Now there's an idea!
Has anyone come across a picture of what it looked liked originally?

Haven't found it as yet, but I'm inclined to agree with Henk that it's a one-off and perhaps a Monte Carlo is the basis. The rear is similar, but the windscreen is very different. Is your find a single piece or split? It doesn't look like the divider is centered in the photo... maybe the brace rod inside is off-kilter?

With a Scimitar, P1, SP250 Dart and other oddities laying about, a weird P2 wouldn't surprise!

    It's a split screen.

There's a slight distortion in the photo caused by Mr Google stitching pictures together but if you
look at the way the light falls on the screen(s) it is flat glass and so a split screen.
Magnifying the picture seems to confirm this.

As a boy I used to hang around the Allard factory in Acre Lane SW4. It's a pity I wasn't more
attentive or had made notes then maybe I wouldn't have to ask the question............................

The AC 428 is essentially a Cobra with his Sunday best on.
Bodywork by Frua, similar to that on the Maserati Mistrale. 7 litre Ford engine.

Here are a few other AC pictures I came across on my travels.

Rare car, that. Ridiculously undervalued until just a few years ago.

    What is #44?
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
