It's a custom hot rod all right, but it's definitely not a '49 Mercury. I'd say late '30's/early '40's Lincoln, like the 1940 Lincoln Zephyr pictured here.

I made a wild guess about the Mercury....it was very clear that it was not a serious car in the first place...

That would be a Triumph TR6, as it says on the fender. What kind of information do you want? It's a rather popular roadster. Do a search, there are probably quite a few message boards and websites out there devoted to TR6s or Triumphs in general.
