For what you have listed you would be able to source the parts for about $620
i'm assuming though you already have a case, windows, dvd drive and psu handy other wise you would be looking at something a bit under $1000

Got a DVD drive but not an updated one still ide cable. Got a Case but old again.

Do need a new update version of windows, still using win xp pro sp3, and if i was going to use plenty of ram i need that vista, but really need 64bot to unleash it's full potential anyway right ?.

But $620 under $1000 was better then i was expecting. And it's always better to pick your own parts to suit yourself, these package deals are good but lack something usually.
I also don't have a LCD, but they are pretty cheap now.

Nothing wrong with IDE DVD drives, I still use one. A case is generally a case, but a PSU might matter.. you may need a more powerful one to run the new stuff. You'd probably not see a whole lot of difference between 32 and 64 bit windows with 4GB RAMs and a 512MB video card, but any more and I'd be suggesting getting 64bit windows 7 when it appears. I have 64 bit, but I have 4GB system RAM and 2GB gfx RAM.. Radeon 4870x2.

So DVD drives still use IDE cables ?.

Not a fan of Vista, played around with a friends laptop and it really uses to much ram. Don't know about windows 7 ?.

As long as it's upgradeable, i will always go bigger in ram and graphics.

My first Pc was a Duron, in 1 month i upgraded to a XP2000, 12 months later i went into XP-M over clocked it. Been with that ever since. Does the job, but i want to be able to play games better, and do a little multimedia.

It is great, Just it uses so much extra ram it drains. XP is the best OS they made the rest can only build on that.
