It needs to be 2Ghz + and have a fairly large HDD. It also needs to be able to run AutoCAD and hopefully a bit fast

Price-range is maximum of about 700€ if possible.

Custom laptops usually turn out more expensive because there is an additional fitting charge as parts have to be ordered in and then fitted. Factory ones are mass produced and are thus cheaper. You can't just build your own laptop either, because cooling is normally model specific and then you will get overheating. The world of laptops sucks.

It doesn't take much to run Autocad either. I'm looking for a laptop that runs 3DS Max and various other rendering software at the same time ... 1.4ghz laptop CPU is fine as long as you have a half-decent GPU.

you can build your own laptop, and its almost the same price if its sort of high end.

but yeah he's better gettin something thats mass produced.

Try ordering from the Sony website. My sister just got her Vaio laptop a couple of weeks ago. The one she got should be good enough for you and the price is not that bad.

In the letter the school sent me they gave as min. specs. atleast a 1.86 ghz processor and 80gb hdd.The other specs weren't that special really(cd-drive and usb-ports...).

I have been relooking at my budget again. I might be able to squeeze an additional 100€ on it. I HAVE to get my books secondhand anyway (try lots of negotiating about the price,my specialism ) and maybe i can get the fireproof overall for 20€ cheaper and with a bit of luck the steel-nosed,fireproof working shoes for anywhere in between 0-15€ through my uncle

My budget barely even allows for me to pay the school for the lessons(1500€ a year !!!) My parents earn about 400€ over the limit underneath which i'd get paid much more(2.5x).. they can barely help on this... I receive just 90€ a month from the government next year.. Less as what i get now ...

I think i'll get myself some bad friends and rob the electronics store
