To build the albins box was close to $3500 with helical gears, this is KG gearset(hollinger) and straight cut probably 4 grand for gears plus labour. The box was rebuilt 1000kms ago and new gears installed, its still a synchro box but straight cuts are stronger and sound farkin fantastic.
Ratios are very tightly stacked , should only drop 1500rpm between 1-2 and then 1000rpm for the 3-4-5 shift
1st-2.67
2nd-1.81
3rd-1.44
4th-1.2
5th-1.1

Gee that looks good Charged .. a virtual TQ Cobra no less!
Always thought the JDM Corolla Levin were a really neat machine.
Btw I wonder, given Toyota's connection with Chris Amon, if this model was named after the NZ racing circuit?
Anyway, great stuff and the operative word is envy

charged, your car looks beautiful. Those old cars have so much charm and character.

looks great with the flares and wheels charged. what's the name of that wheel? might grab a set in 14x7 if they make them in 4x98 PCD (although 13x7 suits the mini..)

CLutch, Minis should only EVERY have MiniLites.
There are modern copies that are as good but cheaper

@ Matra etc
Of topical interest re Minilites (article from a few years ago)

wow, they're big
I'm used to MLs on Escorts/Minis/Imps !!
Pretty much the growth of classic historic race and rally series in the UK allowed MiniLite to restart serious production as EVERYONE with a car from the 60s and 70sa wanted MLs

sorry Matra, I forgot to attach page 2 (see amended post #282)
i want minilites for the mini's yes, but i need a larger wheel of the same style for the triumph and i'm not bothered to get genuine wheels really. if anyone has any other suggestions for classic wheel types feel free to put them up in my triumph thread.
