Either way, I just find it amusing because Mac is so well known for its security, and here they kinda have a problem

I think there's a good chance that Apple won't pursue legal action, as that would expose them quite badly to antitrust law suits because of the iTunes/iPod protections. Apple claims that people always knew that the two were exclusive to each other, but that's no defence for blantant anti-competetive behaviour

Macs are no more secure than PCs, there are just less around so in turn there are less viruses etc. to attack them.

There is some truth to that, but using mine, I would say that we're insured up the ass with security stuffs

This has nothing to do with Macs or the Operating System. The MacOS is more secure than Windows.

This is about Fairplay, the DRM used in AAC files bought on the iTunes store. Like CSS copy protection on DVDs and the DRM on WMV files.

Again, it has nothing to do with the secureness/insecureness of the MacOS.

h00t_h00t. At the moment the internal security model of the Mac IS a lot better than windows. On the Mac you can't touch the OS files without the user giving permission. The problem with windows is that you can alter any file withour permission and without the user knowing it. That is impossible on the mac without explicit user interaction and permission. Self propagating viruses can't work on the mac because of this, nor can spyware. The virus must be activated by the user himself. Let's hope they fix this in Vista..but I have my doubts

yall are taking this way out of context, worst thing comes is that dvd jon or somebody else creates a program that can be used to rob online apple of millions of dollars, mac operating systems will no be affected

but mac is still abit more unsecure than most operating systems
