    Modify a car for $150,000

Yes, this has been done before, but not the same way.

    The rules:

    - Car must be stock to begin with

    - Total budget is $150,000 (Let's just say US dollars)

    - The car must cost less than $80,000, with the rest of the budget going towards modifications. Add up the costs.

    - List the modifications and (if possible) predict performance numbers.

    - Car must be streetable (Don't worry about emissions or anything like that though)

    - Pictures would be nice.

Holy crap that is a lot of money.
Does the starting car have to be stock?

    Naturally I'm doing a Lotus

I will update this post as I work on it.

    -----------------------------------------------------

Base Car: 2006 Lotus Exige - $52,000 (slightly used)

Body Modifications: Full ReVerie/Benetec carbon fibre body - $42000 after all parts are included

Interior: ReVerie carbon fibre interior (seats/shifter/center console) - $4650

    Wheels/Tires: 16"/17" Dymag Carbon Fibre wheels/Yokohama Advan A048 LTS - $9400

Brakes: Alcon Rotors/Pads/4-Piston Calipers and Stainless brake lines - $2600

    Engine: 2.6 litre 365hp RST-V8 and transmission - $35750

Suspension: Ohlins SCCA SS Compliant Coilovers - $3200

    -----------------------------------------------------

Total: $149,600 (good god that was close)

    Stats:

    Base exige mass: 915kg

    1.9 Toyota engine mass: 140kg
    RST-V8 mass: 75kg
Including the transmissions, roughly a 100kg savings.

Full carbon fibre bodywork is said to result in another 100kg of savings.

Interior carbon fibre, A/C removal, and the wheels (about 4kg savings per wheel) are another 40kg in savings.

    915kg -100kg -100kg -40kg = 675kg total mass

I think you'd be looking at 0-60 in just under 3 seconds, granted that you had a good enough driver.

    Sweet.

    Buy 997. Convert to Ruf RT12 Spec. 650hp/225mph/0-60 > 4 seconds.

No idea on price, I think maybe like $150,000

black on black, black wheels, black tailpipes and window tints.

Edited. You're right about the budget, but I want to see how extreme people will get, so I'm not going to lower it to a truly reasonable level.

Needs to be stock to begin with. It doesn't have to be a new car, but if you're buying a used one, make sure your budget is based on a mint-condition car.

Black Lingenfelter C6 427TT, except one step down from the highest-powered version - A little more for the street, and ~900hp is plenty, I think

EDIT: Forgot to do the "process work"

Black manual C6 Corvette - $45,000 with some options
    +
    Lingenfelter C6 427TT "725"hp package - $50,000
    =
Black C6 Corvette, with something like ~1,000hp, 0-60 under 3.5 seconds, I think we know this car relatively well

EDIT #2: Are we allowed to do a second if we decide there is something we would take in particular, but would enjoy doing the research for the progress work of a car that doesn't just get a package and I'm done?
