Did you have a particular TTV6 in mind? Quite a lot of Japanese motors have iron blocks, something to keep in mind.
But I think if you're doing it yourself, and have a specific budget, go the V8. It'll be cheaper and simpler for you to do.

Also, both the Ford and Chevy engines are available from specialists as ready to run engines (carb'ed) finding a TTV6 that will run as easily will be difficult to get running with more electronics and you will have to re-map the ECU so that it will work without the signals from sensors you car doesn't have (abs, traction control, air-bags etc.) Its do-able but may turn out to be more expensive, less reliable and unless you have the equipment and knowledge you'll need specialist help.
PPC - Put a V8 in it!
thanks guys -nice input...
note this car is a 1965- so smog and megasquirt ECU is allowed...
The V8 is pulling a head
even a high strung V6 no turbos is a possibility...
Those Volvo 240T racers which competed in Group A back in the 1980s were very rapid devices. Volvo motors are generally strong & reliable. Depending on what country you come from, why not consider keeping everything 'in house' by using a blown B23 series as it might well be cheaper and simpler than sourcing then fitting a 'built' V8?
true true- and all volvo and less metal work and ..
This is my first from scratch racer...
i built up a nissan with nissan bits and it works great, but i really want a firebreather
There is a volvo engined Opel Manta with 578hp here:

I assumed he had a massive budget though.

i think the v8 is the cheaper way, and, quite possibly, lighter way, though I don't know how tight of a squeeze that would be-can't be much bigger than a v6, two turbos and the plumbing for those turbos
Go n-ithe an cat thu, is go n-ithe an diabhal an cat
When you go Home, Tell them for us and say 'For your tommorrow, We Gave Our Today.'
yeah that volvo engine is awesome, but wayyy to expensive i think.
the v8 seems the better option- or a natural Aspirated v6? as the turbos would be too much plumbling and space wise-perhaps.
I saw a certain jackie stewart drive a 3.7 litre v6 in an old capri, and it sounded mad and dashed around a bit too.
but the sound of the old trans-am racers...
V8....mmm
Were do you live? Thats really going to effect the prices and engine choices.
Just how much power are you aiming for? Have you done alot of work to the chassis because the car might not take the power either a V8 or TTV6 will throw out.Originally Posted by Fiorano

I am in the US, in California. yes the chassis started from the original frame, and body and i welded a cage and tube frame conecting it all together. with an x brace under neath and all the points put together. the front end is tube sub frames welded to the real frame. i hope it holds up. I am not aiming for all out power per se. an arbitrary figure like 500 hp doesn't mean anything if the car can not use it.
i can transplant a stock S2000 motor and trans and that would be the slickster zipper car to go around town and hooligan about, but for track attacks, in GT Lite, GT2 or Gt-1 (SCCA classes) it would have to Huff about 450-550hp... (GT lite do about 250-275, GT 2 about 350-400 i seem to recall) so in GT2 (note the Panoz GTS (not the PAnoz Esperante GT ALMS/Lemans car) fall here the tube frame one with a carburettor V8 385 HP 350lbft Torque)
I hope this helps you guys help me. the current 4 banger is wheeeeeezy
These are not real targets BTW, this is just the class or type of car I would like to run with or maybe Vintage stock cars, a littel V8 or NA V6 Volvo vs. V8 Hudsons, Lincolns, Galaxies, Falcons...you get it?

Stick a cadillac 500c engine in it. The back wheels won't touch the floor but it would be hilareous when you open the bonnet to show people what you are running.

ha ha - tha'd be funny.
it should be well back- the rear 2 cylinders should be where the heater was and in the fire wall area- a new sheet one to be added in.
