You have to wonder about the logic in giving students access to fragile $2500 laptops .. because 50% of them are mangled every year
Insurance data showed that one in two laptops used in schools was subject to an accidental damage claim last year, compared with only one in six in 2000, Mr Mitchell said.

School children treated the machines like text books.

They were dropped, kicked, knocked out of lockers and bags, stepped on in the bus, had drinks spilt on them, and mobiles and pens left on the keyboard with the top jammed shut.

But in contrast, students' iPods, MP3s and mobile phones were treated like gold because they were used for entertainment and keeping in touch with friends.

should have given them Panasonic Toughbooks.

Funny how it seems public schools spend wastefully on computers; every classroom in my school has an Apple Pro Mouse. Yes a $50 mouse. Fortunately, one of the Hewlett Packard guys graduated from here so we get new computers every few years.

    Lucky bastards....

At my school no classrooms have computers, except the ones where you need em, graphics and computer app classes, and for design, and in the music room.

Our computers are as old as shit, the networks way outdated, and we're blocked off so much shit.

    gah

    Before I forget to mention.

Another huge industrial area needs to be create 10 km's from my house in the sea. The plans started in the late 90's. Almost 50 million euro has been wasted so far. There is STILL not a license to build and plans speak of "possibly" 2010 to start the build.
It was previously predicted the entire thing would be here for almost a year now

Best part yet is that a previously constructed area, similar to this one, is only 45% build on so far.

In the end we will have wasted 5-600 million euro and have an empty place in the sea.

he faced accusations because of the corruption and waste of money before, even though the UN weren't fully responsible.

Those who shouted the loudest are now responsible for the failings in the current situation.
Wonder if they'll apply the same rules and demand themselves be charged and forced to stand down from presidency

He will be laughing at the irony

How about the infamous $74 toilet seats?

And I don't even want know where the massive tax revenues of the State of California go. Surely not to the roads and the schools.

Prisions, road projects, the never-ending project, known as the Bay Bridge.

Hey, my school has an iMac in almost every classroom, 80% have a Mighty Mouse, and the keyboard.
